Full Description

The Gloucester High School community is committed to helping students develop reading skills and an active interest in learning in order to prepare for productive citizenship in an increasingly competitive workforce. Research shows that free-choice, independent reading programs that are a part of the school expectations contribute to better student performance on standardized tests and greater success in post-secondary education and careers. This free-choice, independent summer reading program for summer 2011 is an integral part of the GHS instructional strategy.

ALL STUDENTS MUST READ AT LEAST ONE BOOK AND THEY MAY PICK THE BOOK
as long as it is age and ability appropriate.
Parents/Guardians should assist their high school student with the choice of book and approve the selection.
All students must complete the summer reading written assignment and turn it in to their English teacher the first week of school (Aug. 30- Sept. 1, 2011).
Honors English, Humanities, and AP English students will have additional required books to read. Use the Honors/AP link above
